How to Steam Your Face at Home with a Bowl
Pour hot water in a bowl, lean over with a towel draped over your head, and steam for 5-10 minutes to open pores and soften skin.
Steam is just heat and water doing what they do best. Skip the expensive gadgets and essential oil sales pitches.
- Set up your steam station. Fill a large bowl with very hot water and place it on a stable surface at comfortable height. Add a few drops of essential oil if you want, but plain water works perfectly.
- Create your steam tent. Drape a large towel over your head and shoulders, creating a tent over the bowl. Keep your face 12-18 inches from the water to avoid burns.
- Steam and breathe. Close your eyes and breathe normally for 5-10 minutes. If it gets too intense, lift the towel briefly to cool down.
- Follow with skincare. Pat your face dry and immediately apply your usual skincare while skin is still damp. This locks in the softening benefits.
