What dry brushing actually does
A dry brush moves stiff natural bristles across the skin's surface. The mechanical action sweeps loose, flaking skin cells away — surface exfoliation. The bristles also stimulate nerve endings, which is why skin feels warm and tingly afterwards. That's the whole story. Nothing travels deeper than the outermost layer of skin.
The technique, in order
- Start at the feet — long strokes from sole upward
- Move up the legs — shin, calf, thigh
- Hands and arms — fingers upward to shoulder
- Torso, front and back — gentle on the stomach
- Shower, then moisturise damp skin
