How to Brighten Dark Knees at Home
Exfoliate weekly, moisturize daily, and protect from friction to gradually lighten darkened knee skin.
Dark knees are completely normal and fixing them is about consistency, not expensive products—your regular body routine just needs to actually reach your knees.
- Exfoliate weekly. Use a body scrub or dry brush on dry skin before showering. Focus on circular motions for 30 seconds per knee. This removes dead skin buildup that makes knees look darker.
- Moisturize immediately after showering. Apply a thick body cream or oil while skin is still damp. Look for ingredients like glycerin, ceramides, or hyaluronic acid. Consistent moisture prevents further darkening.
- Reduce friction during the day. Wear looser pants or apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly before activities that cause knee rubbing. Friction is the main cause of darkened knees.
