How to Care for Your Fingertips

Keep fingertips soft by moisturizing daily, protecting them from harsh conditions, and maintaining healthy cuticles.

Your fingertips touch everything first, so they deserve the same attention you give your face.

  1. Moisturize consistently. Apply hand cream or cuticle oil to your fingertips twice daily, focusing on the skin around your nails. The delicate skin here loses moisture faster than anywhere else on your hands.
  2. Protect during tasks. Wear gloves when cleaning, gardening, or handling rough materials. Even brief exposure to harsh detergents can strip your fingertips of natural oils and cause cracking.
  3. Gently push back cuticles. After a shower when skin is soft, use a cuticle pusher or your nail to gently push back excess cuticle skin. Never cut cuticles as this creates open wounds that can become infected.
  4. Exfoliate weekly. Use a gentle scrub or pumice stone on rough fingertip skin once a week. This removes dead skin that can catch and tear, causing painful hangnails.
