How to Keep Your Tan Even as It Fades

Exfoliate gently, moisturize daily, and use gradual tanning products to prevent patchy fading.

A good tan is like good tailoring - the maintenance is what makes it look expensive, not the initial application.

  1. Exfoliate before it gets patchy. Use a gentle scrub on rough areas like elbows, knees, and ankles every 2-3 days. This prevents buildup where tan naturally clings and creates those obvious fade lines.
  2. Moisturize immediately after every shower. Apply body lotion on damp skin to lock in moisture and slow the natural shedding process. Hydrated skin holds color longer and fades more evenly.
  3. Top up with gradual tanning lotion. Mix a small amount of gradual tanning product with your regular moisturizer every few days. This extends your tan without creating obvious application lines or sudden color changes.
  4. Focus on high-wear areas. Pay extra attention to areas that fade fastest - hands, feet, face, and anywhere clothing rubs. These spots need more frequent moisturizing and gentle maintenance.
