How to Wear Cedar
Cedar works best when applied to pulse points and layered with complementary notes, not worn alone.
Cedar is the cashmere sweater of fragrance—effortlessly elevated but only if you don't try too hard with it.
- Choose your cedar base. Start with a cedar-dominant fragrance rather than pure cedar essential oil. Pure cedar can overwhelm and turn medicinal on skin. Look for fragrances where cedar is the star but supported by other notes.
- Apply to warm points strategically. Focus on wrists, behind ears, and the hollow of your throat. Cedar is woody and grounding—it needs body heat to bloom properly. Skip the chest if you're wearing delicate fabrics; cedar can stain.
- Time it right. Cedar performs best in cooler weather and evening settings. It's too heavy for summer heat or morning meetings. Think autumn dinners, not beach days.
- Layer thoughtfully. Cedar loves bergamot, rose, and vanilla as companions. Avoid citrus-heavy layers—they fight with cedar's earthy depth. If layering, apply cedar first, then lighter notes on top.
