How to Wear Sandalwood

Sandalwood is a base note that anchors fragrance, so apply it to pulse points and layer with lighter scents on top for depth.

Sandalwood is the cashmere sweater of fragrance—expensive, but you understand why once you wear real quality, and everything else feels scratchy afterward.

  1. Apply to warm pulse points. Dab sandalwood oil or fragrance on wrists, behind ears, and at the base of your throat. These spots generate heat that will slowly release the woody scent throughout the day.
  2. Layer from heaviest to lightest. Start with pure sandalwood as your base, then add middle notes like rose or jasmine, finishing with citrus or fresh top notes. This creates complexity without overwhelming the sandalwood's grounding quality.
  3. Use sparingly for longevity. Sandalwood has incredible staying power, so one small drop goes far. Press rather than rub to avoid breaking down the oil molecules and diminishing the scent.
