How to Choose a Job Interview Fragrance

Choose something clean, familiar, and applied sparingly—your goal is competence, not memorability.

The best interview fragrance is the one they don't consciously notice but makes them feel like you have your life together.

1. Test in your environment first. Wear your chosen fragrance for a full day in similar conditions to your interview. Office buildings have different air circulation and temperature than your home. You need to know how it performs under fluorescent lights and recycled air.
2. Apply to pulse points only. One spray to the inside of each wrist, pressed together once. Skip the neck entirely—too close to where people will be when shaking hands. The goal is a barely-there presence that reads as good hygiene, not a signature scent.
3. Time it thirty minutes before. Apply fragrance thirty minutes before leaving, not right before the interview. This allows the alcohol to evaporate and the scent to settle into something softer. Fresh application can be aggressive in close quarters.
