How to Store Perfume Correctly

Keep perfume in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations and direct sunlight to preserve its composition.

Your perfume collection isn't decoration—treat it like wine and store it properly, or watch your expensive bottles turn into expensive disappointments.

1. Choose the right location. Store bottles in a cool, consistent environment between 60-70°F. A bedroom drawer or closet shelf works better than a bathroom medicine cabinet where humidity and temperature shift constantly.
2. Protect from light. Keep perfumes in their original boxes or in a dark space. UV rays break down fragrance molecules and can turn clear liquids yellow or amber over time.
3. Maintain bottle position. Store bottles upright to minimize air exposure and prevent the atomizer from clogging. Laying bottles on their side can cause leakage and reduce spray quality.
4. Control air exposure. Keep caps tightly closed when not in use. Air oxidizes fragrance oils and weakens the scent composition, especially top notes which are most volatile.
