At-Home Bond Maintenance

Mechanical and thermal styling causes cumulative degradation to the hair strand. Bond-repairing agents work to temporarily reinforce these strands by filling gaps within the cuticle structure. This process is not a cure for existing damage, but a method of sustaining hair manageability.

Consistency is the primary factor in effective maintenance. Adhering to a weekly schedule prevents the buildup of agents while ensuring the structural reinforcement remains steady.

  1. Prepare the hair. Begin with damp, towel-dried hair that is free of styling product buildup. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb to ensure the hair is detangled. This provides an even canvas for the product.
  2. Distribute the product. Apply a measured amount of the bond-repairing treatment to the palm of your hand. Distribute evenly from the mid-lengths to the ends where mechanical stress is highest. Avoid the root area to maintain hair volume.
  3. Allow the processing. Secure the hair gently and allow the agent to sit for the manufacturer-recommended duration. Do not exceed the suggested time, as it offers no additional benefit. Keep the hair undisturbed during this period.
  4. Rinse thoroughly. Rinse the hair with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Ensure no residue remains, as leftover product can cause hair to feel heavy or stiff. Do not skip this rinsing stage.
  5. Condition and seal. Follow with your standard conditioner to seal the cuticle. Leave on for two minutes before performing a final cool rinse. Pat the hair dry gently with a microfiber towel.
Consistency in application prevents the accumulation of unnecessary product weight.
