A Guide to Tinted Moisturiser
Tinted moisturiser occupies the space between skincare and makeup. It serves as a sheer, pigment-based layer intended to even out skin tone while maintaining the authentic texture of the skin. Unlike foundations, which are designed for coverage, these products are formulated to disappear into the epidermis.
Correct application is a matter of thermal activation and distribution. Because the product is pigment-thin, the preparation of the surface determines the final outcome.
- Prepare a clean canvas. Begin with freshly washed skin. Ensure that any prior layers of serum or moisturiser have fully absorbed for at least three minutes. Tinted moisturiser performs best when the skin is supple but not tacky to the touch.
- Distribute the product. Dispense a pea-sized amount onto the back of your hand. Using your fingertips, dot the product on the nose, chin, and forehead. These central points provide the best starting geography for even distribution.
- Massage and integrate. Use circular motions to buff the product outward toward the hairline and jaw. Avoid dragging the skin. The warmth of your fingertips will help the product settle into the surface, creating a seamless transition from the face to the neck.
- Final check and set. Review the edges of the face in natural light. If any streaks remain, pat the area gently with a clean finger to smooth the edges. If you have areas prone to shine, apply a translucent powder sparingly only to those specific points.
A proper tinted moisturiser should look like skin, only more uniform.
