Choosing a PM Moisturiser by Weight

The primary objective of a night cream is to provide a barrier that supports hydration while you sleep. Selecting the correct weight is a matter of matching the formulation's lipid content to your skin’s natural oil production. A mismatch often leads to either a feeling of tightness or a heavy residue on the pillowcase.

Understanding texture classifications simplifies the selection process. Whether your skin is dry, combination, or oily, the goal remains the same: balance without obstruction.

  1. Cleanse the skin. Begin with a gentle cleanser to remove daily pollutants and sebum. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft cloth. Ensure the skin is entirely clean before moving to the next step.
  2. Assess hydration levels. Check your skin surface before applying the product. If your skin feels tight or shows dry patches, opt for a cream-based moisturiser. If your skin feels balanced or slightly oily, select a gel-cream or lightweight lotion.
  3. Application. Dispense a nickel-sized amount of product onto your fingertips. Apply in upward, circular motions starting from the neck and moving toward the forehead. Do not ignore the jawline or the edges of the nose.
  4. Absorption wait. Allow the product to settle for at least five minutes before lying down. This prevents the majority of the cream from transferring onto your bedding. This time also allows you to gauge if the weight of the product feels correct.
Consistency in texture leads to consistency in skin comfort.
