Mastering the Second Cleanse

The second cleanse is the corrective step in an evening ritual. While the first cleanse removes surface debris, the second cleanse targets the skin itself. This ensures that no residue from oils, balms, or makeup remains.

Executing this correctly requires a transition from dry to damp skin. It is the boundary between the day and the night.

  1. Rinse the first cleanser. After massaging your oil or balm, rinse it away with warm water. Ensure your hands are clean before transitioning to the second product. The face should remain damp.
  2. Dispense the product. Apply a pea-sized amount of your water-based cleanser to your fingertips. Rub them together to create a light lather if the formula requires it. This distributes the product evenly for a balanced application.
  3. Massage with intention. Gently move your fingers in circular motions across the cheeks, forehead, and jawline. Focus on areas that held the most product during the day, such as the nose creases. The sensation should be cooling and smooth, not abrasive.
  4. Final rinse and assess. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water until no slip remains on the skin. Pat the face dry with a clean, soft towel. The skin should feel neutral and clean, not tight.
Clean skin should feel neutral and supple, never tight or stripped.
