SPF Selection for Combination Skin
Combination skin requires a delicate balance of moisture and oil control. Applying a heavy cream often leads to shine in the T-zone, while overly drying formulas leave the cheeks feeling tight. Fluid-based sunscreens offer a lightweight alternative that absorbs quickly without adding unnecessary weight to the complexion.
Selecting the right consistency is more significant than the brand name. The objective is to identify a texture that adheres to the skin without moving or settling into pores throughout the day.
- Cleanse the surface. Begin with a clean face to remove residual oils. Pat the skin completely dry with a clean cloth. Moisture on the skin can interfere with the way fluid sunscreen spreads and settles.
- Measure the amount. Use a coin-sized amount for the face. If your bottle features a dropper, dispense directly onto the palm of your hand to prevent product waste. Fluid formulas are thin, so move quickly to prevent runoff.
- Distribute by zones. Apply dots of the fluid to the forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks. Use light, sweeping motions to spread the product outward toward the hairline. Prioritize the T-zone first, as it is the area most prone to excess oil accumulation.
- Allow for fixation. Wait two minutes before attempting to apply any other layer or makeup. Fluid formulas require this time to bond with the skin surface. Avoid touching the face during this window to ensure an even finish.
A thin layer, thoroughly distributed, provides more protection than a thick, uneven application.
