How to Keep Lip Lines from Forming
Consistent SPF, gentle exfoliation, and proper hydration prevent the fine lines that form around your mouth from deepening.
Most people focus on expensive serums while ignoring basic SPF on their lips, then wonder why they have lines at thirty.
- Apply SPF to your lip area daily. Use a lip balm with at least SPF 30 or extend your facial sunscreen to cover the skin around your lips. UV damage is the primary cause of premature lip lines, so this step matters more than any cream.
- Exfoliate gently twice a week. Use a soft washcloth or gentle lip scrub to remove dead skin around your mouth. This keeps the area smooth and helps your moisturizer absorb better.
- Moisturize the perimeter religiously. Apply a rich lip balm or facial moisturizer to the skin just outside your lip line morning and night. Dry skin creases more easily, so keeping this area supple is essential.
- Sleep on your back when possible. Pressing your face into a pillow for hours creates temporary lines that become permanent over time. Back sleeping eliminates this pressure entirely.
