Reapplying SPF via Powder

Reapplication is the most neglected aspect of daily sun protection. While liquid formulas are effective, they are impractical for use over a finished face of makeup.

Mineral powder SPF offers a viable alternative for maintaining coverage. This method requires specific technique to ensure even distribution across the entire surface of the skin.

  1. Assess the surface. Begin by removing excess oil or debris from the face using a clean tissue. Press the tissue gently against the T-zone and cheeks to create a dry, even canvas. Do not rub the skin, as this will displace the underlying foundation.
  2. Load the brush. Tap the powder container against your palm to release the product into the bristles. If using a self-dispensing brush, ensure the mechanism is functioning by tapping it against the back of your hand until product appears. You need a visible dusting of powder on the brush head for full coverage.
  3. Press, do not swipe. Apply the powder using a firm pressing motion rather than a sweeping gesture. Start at the center of the face and move outward to cover the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin. Each pass must overlap the previous one to ensure no gaps are left in the application.
  4. Final check. Inspect the hairline, around the nose, and the jawline for any uneven buildup. Use a clean, dry finger to gently blend any heavy concentrations of powder. Once the product is settled, avoid touching your face to maintain the integrity of the layer.
Consistency in pressure and overlap is the only way to ensure uniform coverage with powder SPF.
