What makes a good dry brush
Natural bristle (sisal, boar, cactus fibre) holds its shape and creates the mechanical contact that sweeps surface flakes. Synthetic bristles are often too soft to do much, or too sharp. A long handle reaches the back without contortion. Stiff enough to feel purposeful; soft enough that it doesn't scratch — that's the range you're buying toward.
Cadence by skin type
- Calm body skin: 3–4 times per week
- Sensitive or reactive skin: 1–2 times per week
- Post-shave within 24–48 hours: skip
- Active irritation: skip until calm
