Most body lotion underperforms because it arrives late. Timing is the technique — and it costs nothing to change.

What the post-shower window actually is
When you step out of the shower, your skin surface holds a thin film of water. That film stays workable for about two minutes. A moisturiser applied during this window traps surface water against the skin. After that window closes, the water is gone and the moisturiser works harder from a standing start.
Damp-skin timing by product
- Body lotion — Apply immediately, skin still visibly damp
- Body oil — After patting, while slightly damp
- Body cream — 2–4 minutes post-shower, slightly drier
- Body butter — Evening, more flexible timing
