How to Grow Out Bleached Hair Without Looking Awful
Layer temporary color over roots, stretch time between touch-ups, and cut strategically as natural hair grows.
- Stop bleaching immediately. Your last bleach session is your last bleach session. Continuing will only make the transition harder and damage your hair further. Accept that this process takes months, not weeks.
- Use temporary color on roots. Apply root touch-up spray or temporary color that matches your bleached sections to new growth. This buys you time while keeping the contrast manageable. Reapply every few washes.
- Get strategic cuts every 6-8 weeks. Trim off the most damaged bleached ends gradually. Ask your stylist to blend the line between natural and bleached hair with layers or face-framing cuts that disguise the demarcation.
- Deep condition weekly. Focus treatments on the bleached sections which are more porous and damaged. Use protein treatments if hair feels mushy, moisturizing masks if it feels brittle.
