How to Color Melt Your Crown for Softer Grow-Out
Blend a shade between your roots and lengths through the crown area using gentle upward strokes to create a seamless transition that disguises harsh regrowth lines.
- Choose your melt shade. Pick a color exactly halfway between your natural root color and your current hair color. This bridging tone will create the seamless blend you need for a natural-looking transition.
- Section your crown. Part your hair down the center and create a horseshoe section around your crown area, from temple to temple. This is where the most obvious regrowth happens and where your melt will make the biggest impact.
- Apply with feathering motions. Using a tint brush, apply the melt color with light, upward feathering strokes starting at your roots and blending into the mid-lengths. Work in thin sections and blend while the product is still wet for the smoothest gradient.
- Process and blend. Follow your color's processing time, then rinse with cool water and condition. The result should be an invisible transition that makes your grow-out look intentional rather than neglected.
