How to Make Aloe Leave-In Conditioner at Home
Blend fresh aloe gel with water and a few drops of oil for a lightweight leave-in that smooths without weighing hair down.
- Extract fresh aloe gel. Cut a thick aloe leaf and scoop out the clear gel with a spoon, avoiding the yellow latex near the skin. You need about 2 tablespoons of pure gel for shoulder-length hair.
- Blend the base. Combine aloe gel with equal parts distilled water in a small blender or whisk vigorously by hand. The mixture should be smooth and slightly thick, not stringy.
- Add conditioning oil. Mix in 3-4 drops of lightweight oil like jojoba or argan. This prevents the aloe from drying too tight on your hair while adding slip for detangling.
- Apply to damp hair. Work the mixture through towel-dried hair from mid-length to ends, avoiding roots. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
