How to Make DIY Curl Refresher Spray

Mix water, leave-in conditioner, and a curl cream in a spray bottle for day-two curl revival.

  1. Gather your base ingredients. Fill a spray bottle with 3/4 cup distilled water, 2 tablespoons leave-in conditioner, and 1 tablespoon curl cream or gel. Distilled water prevents mineral buildup that can weigh curls down.
  2. Add moisture and slip. Mix in 1 teaspoon of oil like argan or jojoba for extra moisture, or glycerin if you live in humid weather. Glycerin pulls moisture from the air into your hair, but skip it in dry climates where it can have the opposite effect.
  3. Shake and test. Shake vigorously until everything combines into a milky solution. Spray on a small section first to check consistency—it should feel slightly slippery but not sticky when dry.
  4. Apply strategically. Spray on damp hands first, then scrunch into mid-lengths and ends of second-day curls. Never spray directly onto hair unless you want frizz—the moisture from your hands distributes the product evenly.
