How to Make DIY Heat Protectant Spray
Mix water, aloe vera gel, and a lightweight oil in a spray bottle for basic heat protection that won't weigh hair down.
- Gather your base ingredients. You need distilled water, pure aloe vera gel, and a light oil like argan or jojoba. Distilled water prevents buildup and aloe creates a protective film while adding moisture.
- Mix the formula. Combine 1 cup distilled water, 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel, and 1 teaspoon oil in a spray bottle. Shake vigorously until the aloe dissolves completely.
- Add optional enhancers. A few drops of glycerin helps lock in moisture, while a drop of essential oil masks any aloe scent. Keep additions minimal to avoid weighing hair down.
- Apply and store properly. Spray on damp hair before heat styling, focusing on mid-lengths to ends. Store in the refrigerator and use within two weeks since there are no preservatives.
