How to Make DIY Hibiscus Hair Rinse
Steep dried hibiscus petals in hot water for 20 minutes, strain, cool, and pour through clean hair after shampooing for natural shine and color enhancement.
- Prepare the hibiscus base. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add 1/4 cup dried hibiscus petals. Remove from heat and let steep for 20-30 minutes until the water turns deep red. The longer you steep, the more concentrated the color and nutrients.
- Strain and cool. Strain out all petals using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Let the liquid cool to room temperature. Hot liquid will shock your scalp and can damage hair cuticles.
- Apply to clean hair. Shampoo hair as usual, then slowly pour the hibiscus rinse through your hair, focusing on mid-lengths to ends. Massage gently into scalp and hair for even distribution.
- Final rinse or leave-in. For subtle effects, rinse with cool water after 5 minutes. For deeper conditioning and color deposit, leave in and proceed with your usual styling routine.
