How to Make Rice Water Hair Rinse
Soak one cup of rice in two cups of water for 30 minutes, strain, and use the liquid as a final rinse after shampooing.
- Choose your rice. Any rice works but jasmine and basmati give the cleanest liquid. Rinse the rice briefly under cold water to remove surface starch and debris.
- Create the base. Combine one cup rice with two cups room temperature water in a bowl. Let it sit for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to release the nutrients into the water.
- Strain and store. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a clean container. The liquid should be cloudy white and slightly thick. Use immediately or refrigerate for up to one week.
- Apply to clean hair. After shampooing and conditioning, pour the rice water slowly through your hair from roots to ends. Massage gently into your scalp and let sit for 5 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
