How to Do an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse for Hair
Mix one part apple cider vinegar with three parts water, pour through clean wet hair after shampooing, then rinse with cool water.
It strips buildup without the sulfates, but if you need this weekly, examine what you're putting in your hair first.
- Mix your solution. Combine one part raw apple cider vinegar with three parts cool water in a squeeze bottle or cup. The ratio prevents irritation while maintaining effectiveness. Use filtered water if your tap water is hard.
- Apply to clean hair. Shampoo and rinse your hair completely first. Pour the ACV mixture slowly from roots to ends, focusing on the scalp. Work it through with your fingers for even distribution.
- Let it work. Leave the mixture on for 30 seconds to 2 minutes maximum. Your scalp might tingle slightly, which is normal. Any burning sensation means you need to dilute further next time.
- Rinse thoroughly. Rinse with cool water until the vinegar smell disappears completely. Follow with conditioner on your ends only if needed. Skip conditioner if your hair feels perfectly balanced.
