How to Install a Lace Front Wig
Prep your hairline, secure the wig with adhesive or tape, trim the lace, and blend the edges.
A perfectly installed lace front should be invisible, which means most people are doing it wrong because they rush the prep work.
- Prepare your hairline. Clean your forehead with rubbing alcohol to remove oils and residue. If you have hair, braid it flat or use a wig cap to create a smooth base. The cleaner your skin, the better the adhesion.
- Position the wig. Place the wig on your head without adhesive first to mark where your natural hairline should sit. The lace should extend slightly beyond your hairline for the most natural look.
- Apply adhesive. Use wig glue or double-sided tape along your hairline where the lace will sit. Work in small sections and let glue become tacky before pressing down the lace.
- Secure and trim. Press the lace into the adhesive, working from center outward. Once secure, carefully trim the excess lace as close to the hairline as possible without cutting the hair.
- Blend the edges. Use a small brush or your finger to press down any lifted edges. Apply concealer or foundation over the lace if needed to match your skin tone perfectly.
