How to Do a Braided Low Bun

Braid a section of hair, wrap it with the rest into a low bun, and secure with bobby pins for a textured, polished look.

  1. Prep your hair. Start with day-old hair or add texture spray to clean hair. Brush through to remove tangles, then gather hair at the nape of your neck with a clear elastic.
  2. Create the braid. Take a two-inch section from one side of the ponytail and braid it loosely to the ends. Secure with a small clear elastic and gently pull apart the braid to add volume.
  3. Form the bun. Twist the remaining ponytail hair around the base to create a loose bun. Wrap the braid around the outside of the bun, tucking the end underneath.
  4. Secure everything. Pin the bun in place with bobby pins that match your hair color, inserting them at angles for better grip. Mist with hairspray for hold.
