Perm Rod Set on Natural Hair
Wrap damp hair around perm rods in small sections, set overnight, then carefully remove for defined curls.
- Prep damp hair. Start with freshly washed, 70% dry hair. Apply leave-in conditioner and styling cream from mid-length to ends. Hair should feel moist but not dripping.
- Section systematically. Part hair into 1-inch horizontal sections starting from the nape. Clip upper sections away. Work from bottom to top for easier access.
- Wrap each section. Take a section slightly narrower than your rod. Comb through, then wrap hair around the rod from ends to roots, rolling upward. Secure with the attached clip.
- Set completely. Sleep with a silk scarf or sit under a hooded dryer for 45 minutes. Hair must be completely dry before removing rods or curls will fall.
- Remove and style. Carefully unclip and unroll each rod in the same order you applied them. Gently separate curls with your fingers and fluff roots for volume.
