How to Do a Pull-Through Braid
Create the illusion of an intricate braid by making a series of ponytails and pulling the hair through each section.
- Section the top. Take a horizontal section of hair from ear to ear across the crown. Secure with a clear elastic about two inches from your hairline. This is your first ponytail and the foundation of the entire look.
- Create the second ponytail. Gather the loose hair below the first ponytail into another horizontal section. Secure with an elastic directly below the first one, leaving about two inches of space between them.
- Pull through. Split the first ponytail in half vertically. Pull the second ponytail up and through this opening, then let it fall back down. This creates the first braided section.
- Continue the pattern. Add more loose hair to the split sections from step three and create a third ponytail below. Pull this new ponytail through the split sections, then repeat until you reach the nape of your neck.
- Finish and fluff. Secure the final section with an elastic. Gently tug at each braided section to create volume and width, working from bottom to top to avoid disrupting the pattern.
