How to Do a Side-Swept Low Bun
Create texture, sweep everything to one side, twist into a low bun at the nape, and secure with bobby pins placed strategically.
- Prep your hair. Start with day-old hair or add texture spray to clean hair. The slight grip makes everything hold better and look less precious.
- Create the side sweep. Part hair deeply to one side and brush everything over to the opposite ear. Use your fingers instead of a brush for the final sweep—it looks more natural.
- Gather at the nape. Collect all hair into a low ponytail at the base of your neck, slightly off-center toward your sweep direction. Don't make it perfect—a little looseness around the face is flattering.
- Form the bun. Twist the ponytail loosely and wrap it around the base. Tuck the ends under and pin with bobby pins that match your hair color, inserting them at angles for better grip.
- Finish and adjust. Gently pull at the crown and sides to add volume where needed. A few face-framing pieces can fall naturally—don't force them back.
