How to Create a Twist Crown Braid
Twist small sections of hair around your head, securing each twist with bobby pins to create a braided crown effect.
- Prep and section. Start with day-old hair for better grip and spray with texturizing spray. Part your hair where you normally would and section off a 2-inch wide strip along your hairline from one ear to the other.
- Begin the twist. Take a 1-inch section near your ear and split it into two pieces. Twist them around each other away from your face for about 2-3 turns. This creates your foundation twist.
- Add hair and continue. Grab a small section of loose hair near the twist and incorporate it into the bottom strand before twisting again. Continue this process, moving along your hairline toward the opposite ear.
- Secure the crown. When you reach the other ear, pin the end of your twist with a bobby pin tucked behind your ear. Gently tug at the twisted sections to create volume and soften the look.
- Finish the style. Gather remaining loose hair into a low bun or leave it down as desired. Set with light-hold hairspray to maintain the texture without stiffness.
