The Wet-Look Bun
Apply gel to damp hair, slick back with a brush, twist into a low bun, and secure with bobby pins.
- Start with damp hair. Hair should be 70% dry—not soaking, not bone dry. This gives you control without the frizz. If your hair is already dry, mist it lightly with water.
- Apply strong-hold gel. Work a quarter-size amount through your hair from roots to ends. Focus on the top and sides where you need the sleekest finish. Less is more until you know your hair's needs.
- Brush everything back. Use a fine-tooth comb or boar bristle brush to pull hair straight back from your hairline. The goal is glass-smooth with zero bumps or pieces sticking out.
- Twist and secure. Gather hair at the nape, twist into a tight coil, then wrap into a bun. Pin with bobby pins that match your hair color, tucking the ends under for a clean finish.
