How to Style a Pixie Cut

Work with your hair's natural texture using the right products and tools to create movement and definition.

The best pixie cuts look like you just ran your fingers through them, even when they took twenty minutes to perfect.

  1. Start with damp hair. Towel-dry until slightly damp, not soaking. This gives you control without fighting completely wet hair that won't hold shape.
  2. Apply texturizing product. Use a lightweight mousse or texturizing cream from roots to ends. Focus on areas where you want lift or definition.
  3. Direct hair while drying. Use a small round brush or your fingers to guide hair in your desired direction as you blow-dry. Lift at the roots for volume.
  4. Finish with targeted styling. Use a small amount of pomade or wax to define pieces and add texture. Work through with fingertips, not palms.
