How to Use a 1-Inch Curling Wand
Wrap dry, heat-protected hair around the wand barrel away from your face, hold for 8-10 seconds, then release and let cool.
- Prep your hair. Start with completely dry hair and apply heat protectant from mid-length to ends. Section your hair into layers using clips, leaving the bottom layer down to start.
- Heat the wand. Set your curling wand to 350°F for fine hair or 375-400°F for thick or coarse hair. Wait for it to fully heat up before beginning.
- Section and curl. Take 1-2 inch sections of hair and wrap them around the barrel, starting about an inch from your roots. Always curl away from your face for a flattering shape.
- Hold and release. Hold each section for 8-10 seconds, then carefully release the curl into your palm. Let it cool completely in your hand before letting it fall.
- Finish and set. Once all sections are curled and cooled, gently run your fingers through the curls to soften them. Finish with a light hairspray for hold.
