How to Use a Denman Brush for Defined Curls
Section damp hair, wrap small sections around the Denman brush barrel, and twist away from your face for spring and definition.
- Start with the right foundation. Work on damp hair with leave-in conditioner or curl cream applied. The brush grips better on slightly wet hair and product helps prevent frizz during manipulation.
- Section strategically. Take horizontal sections about an inch wide, starting from the bottom. Smaller sections give tighter definition, larger sections create looser waves.
- Master the wrapping technique. Place the brush under your section at the roots, wrap the hair around the barrel away from your face, then gently pull down while maintaining tension. The key is consistent wrapping direction.
- Set the curl pattern. Hold each wrapped section for 3-5 seconds before releasing. For extra hold, scrunch each released curl gently in your palm before moving to the next section.
- Finish without disruption. Let curls air dry completely or diffuse on low heat. Avoid touching until fully dry, then gently separate larger curl clumps with your fingers if desired.
