How to Use a Scalp Massage Brush

Use gentle circular motions with light pressure, starting at your hairline and working back toward your crown.

  1. Start with the right brush. Choose a brush with soft silicone bristles or rounded plastic tips. Metal bristles are too harsh for most scalps and can cause irritation.
  2. Work on dry or wet hair. Use the brush on dry hair for daily stimulation or on wet hair during shampooing. Wet hair requires even gentler pressure since it's more fragile.
  3. Begin at the hairline. Place the brush at your front hairline and use small circular motions with light pressure. Move systematically across your scalp, covering about an inch at a time.
  4. Work toward the crown. Continue the circular motions as you move from front to back, then cover the sides and behind your ears. Spend 30 seconds to 2 minutes total.
  5. Clean after each use. Rinse the brush with warm water and mild soap, then let it air dry completely. Hair oils and product buildup will make the brush less effective.
