How to Create a Burgundy Lip and Cheek Look

Build burgundy gradually using cream products first, then powder, keeping the intensity higher on lips than cheeks.

  1. Prep your base. Start with foundation and concealer as usual, but skip blush and lip color for now. Set lightly with powder only where you tend to get oily. You want some natural skin texture to grab the burgundy tones.
  2. Apply cream burgundy to cheeks first. Use a cream blush in burgundy or deep berry, applying with fingertips to the apples of your cheeks. Blend upward and outward but keep it subtle. This creates the base that your powder will grip to later.
  3. Build lips with precision. Line your lips with a burgundy liner, then fill them in completely. Apply your burgundy lipstick over the liner using a brush for clean edges. The lip color should be noticeably deeper than your cheek color.
  4. Set and intensify. Dust matching burgundy powder blush over your cream base, focusing on the same areas. Build slowly until you achieve the right balance with your lip color. The cheeks should complement, not compete.
