How to Do a Nude Lip with Smoky Eye
Balance a dramatic smoky eye with a nude lip by keeping the lip color muted and slightly cooler than your natural lip tone.
- Prep your lips. Exfoliate with a lip scrub and apply a thin layer of lip balm. Let it absorb for five minutes, then blot excess oil with tissue.
- Choose your nude. Pick a shade one to two tones cooler than your natural lip color. Warm nudes compete with smoky eyes, cool nudes complement them.
- Line and fill. Use a lip liner that matches your chosen nude exactly. Line your lips, then fill them in completely to create a base that prevents bleeding.
- Apply lipstick. Pat the nude lipstick over the liner with your finger for a soft, diffused finish. Avoid direct application from the tube which creates too much opacity.
- Set the look. Press a tissue to your lips, then dust a tiny amount of translucent powder through the tissue. This locks the color without adding texture.
