How to Create a Plum Eyeshadow Look

Build depth with burgundy in the outer corner, sweep plum across the lid, and blend upward for a sophisticated berry eye.

  1. Prime and set the base. Apply eyeshadow primer to clean lids, extending to the brow bone. Set with a light neutral shadow that matches your skin tone to prevent fallout and create smooth blending.
  2. Map your placement. Use a fluffy brush to sweep a warm brown transition shade in the crease, staying above your natural eye fold. This creates a roadmap for where the plum will sit and helps with seamless blending.
  3. Build the plum. Pack plum shadow onto the mobile lid using a flat shader brush, building intensity gradually. Start with light pressure and layer until you reach your desired depth, keeping the color concentrated on the lid.
  4. Deepen the outer corner. Take a deeper burgundy or wine shade on a smaller blending brush and focus it in the outer V, blending upward toward the crease. This creates dimension and prevents the look from appearing flat.
  5. Highlight and define. Apply a champagne or pale pink highlight to the inner corner and just under the brow bone. Line with black or deep brown liner, keeping it thin for daytime or building it up for evening drama.
