Makeup for Glasses: Making Your Eyes Pop Behind Frames
Amplify your eye makeup and adjust your application to work with your frames, not against them.
- Prime your lids properly. Use an eyeshadow primer to prevent makeup from transferring onto your lenses. Glasses create a humid microenvironment that breaks down makeup faster than usual.
- Go bigger with your eyes. Frames diminish the appearance of your eyes, so compensate with more defined makeup. Use slightly darker eyeshadows and more dramatic eyeliner than you would without glasses.
- Lift your lashes strategically. Curl lashes before applying mascara to prevent them from hitting your lenses. Focus mascara on the roots and middle of lashes rather than the tips to avoid smudging.
- Define your brows with intention. Well-groomed brows frame your glasses and create structure. Fill in sparse areas and extend the tail slightly if your frames cut off the natural brow line.
- Balance the rest of your face. Since glasses draw attention to your upper face, keep lip color proportional. Bold frames pair well with neutral lips, while subtle frames can handle more dramatic lip colors.
