How to Do Mask-Proof Makeup
Focus on your eyes, set everything with powder, and choose transfer-resistant formulas that can handle friction.
- Prime strategically. Use a mattifying primer only where your mask sits—nose, cheeks, chin. Skip the eye area where you want your makeup to stay put but feel comfortable.
- Go light on base. Apply foundation only where it shows—forehead, around eyes, temples. Use a damp beauty sponge to press powder into the skin where your mask touches.
- Make your eyes the focus. This is your moment for bold eyeshadow, defined brows, or dramatic lashes. Everything above your mask line can be as intense as you want.
- Set the mask zone. Dust translucent powder heavily where fabric touches skin. Press it in with a damp sponge, then dust again—this creates a barrier.
- Choose your lip strategy. Either skip lip color entirely or use a long-wearing liquid lipstick that dries down completely. Test it by pressing tissue against your lips first.
