How to Apply Eyeshadow Without Looking Like You Tried Too Hard
Start with one neutral shade close to your skin tone, blend it across the lid with a fluffy brush, then add depth with a slightly darker shade in the crease.
- Prime the canvas. Pat a tiny amount of eyeshadow primer or concealer across your eyelid from lash line to brow bone. This prevents creasing and makes colors show up true to pan.
- Pick your base shade. Choose a matte shade one or two tones deeper than your skin. Sweep it across the entire moveable lid with a flat shader brush. This creates dimension without drama.
- Define the crease. Take a fluffy blending brush and a shade slightly darker than your base. Tap off excess powder, then sweep back and forth in your crease with windshield wiper motions until the line disappears.
- Clean up the edges. Use a clean blending brush to soften any harsh lines. The goal is a gradient that looks like shadow, not stripes.
