How to Curl Eyelashes Properly

Heat your curler for three seconds with a hair dryer, curl lashes in three sections from base to tip, then apply mascara while lashes are still warm.

Most people curl once at the base and wonder why their lashes look crimped instead of curved.

  1. Heat your curler. Run a hair dryer over your eyelash curler for 3-5 seconds until it's warm but not hot. Test the temperature on your wrist first. The gentle heat helps set the curl like a curling iron does for hair.
  2. Position at the base. Open the curler and place it as close to your lash line as possible without pinching skin. Your lashes should sit between the rubber pad and metal clamp. Close gently but firmly.
  3. Curl in sections. Hold for 5-10 seconds at the base, then move the curler halfway up your lashes and hold again. Finish at the tips for a natural graduated curve rather than a harsh right angle.
  4. Apply mascara immediately. While your lashes are still slightly warm from the curler, brush on mascara from base to tip. The residual warmth helps lock in the curl and prevents lashes from falling flat.
