How to Create a Fox Eye Makeup Look

Elongate your eyes with strategic eyeliner, shadow placement, and brow shaping to create an upward, almond-shaped effect.

The fox eye is just good eyeliner geometry—you're redistributing visual weight to create a more angular, lifted shape that photographs beautifully.

  1. Map your natural eye shape. Look straight ahead in a mirror and identify where your outer corner naturally sits. The fox eye effect works by extending and lifting this corner upward. Mark this point mentally as your starting reference.
  2. Create the upper wing. Draw a line from your lower lash line upward toward the end of your brow, creating a sharp triangle. Fill this triangle with eyeliner, making the wing longer and more dramatic than typical winged liner.
  3. Connect and blend the lower line. Extend your lower lash line outward to meet the bottom of your upper wing. This creates one continuous, elongated almond shape that pulls your eye upward.
  4. Shape your brows upward. Brush brow hairs up and outward, focusing on lifting the tail end. Use concealer below the brow bone to create a sharper, more angular arch that supports the lifted eye effect.
  5. Add strategic highlight and shadow. Apply highlight to the inner corner and just below the brow bone. Use a deeper shade in the outer corner and blend upward to emphasize the lift.
