Choosing Between Strip Lashes and Fan Clusters

The choice between a full strip lash and individual lash fans often dictates the speed and aesthetic outcome of a daily makeup routine. Strip lashes provide an immediate, uniform frame for the eye, whereas fan clusters allow for targeted volume that mimics natural growth patterns.

Understanding the mechanics of both application styles is necessary to maintain comfort throughout the day. Your choice depends entirely on your desired visual density and the time you are prepared to invest each morning.

  1. Prepare the lash line. Cleanse the eyelid of any residual oils using a damp cotton swab. Allow the skin to dry completely before applying any adhesive. A clean surface ensures the band or fan base adheres securely without shifting.
  2. Measure and trim the strip. If using a full strip, place it against your lash line without adhesive to determine the necessary length. Trim the outer corner of the band to prevent the lash from poking the inner corner of the eye. For fan clusters, skip to step three.
  3. Apply adhesive sparingly. For strip lashes, apply a thin line of adhesive to the band and wait thirty seconds for it to become tacky. For fan clusters, dip the knot or base of the fan into a small drop of adhesive. Do not over-saturate, as excess glue creates unnecessary weight.
  4. Placement and setting. Apply the strip lash starting from the center of the lash line, then secure the inner and outer corners. For fans, place them individually along the base of your natural lashes, spacing them according to your desired density. Use tweezers to press the lash base into the natural lash line.
  5. Blend the look. Once the adhesive is dry, use a clean spoolie brush to gently comb your natural lashes upward to blend them with the falsies. This creates a cohesive look and ensures no gap is visible between the real and synthetic hair.
Consistency in placement is more critical than the volume of lashes used.
