A Guide to Applying Strip Lashes

Applying strip lashes is a matter of geometry. The objective is to place a rigid band along the flexible curve of your eyelid so that the artificial fibers move in unison with your natural lashes. When executed correctly, the band becomes invisible against the lash line.

The process relies on the tension of the glue and the precise positioning of the band. Avoid the common mistake of rushing the adhesive drying time.

  1. Measure and trim. Hold the lash strip against your eyelid to gauge the required length. The band should start just inside your natural lash line and end before the outer corner turns downward. Trim excess material from the outer edge using small scissors.
  2. Flex the band. Grip both ends of the lash band and bend it into a tight U-shape. Hold this position for thirty seconds to loosen the stiff material. This ensures the band follows the curvature of your eye without lifting at the corners.
  3. Apply adhesive. Apply a thin, consistent layer of adhesive along the base of the strip. Focus slightly more product on the inner and outer ends, as these are the points most prone to detachment. Avoid applying too much product, which can cause smearing.
  4. Wait for tackiness. Place the lashes aside for at least sixty seconds. The adhesive must transition from a liquid to a tacky, semi-solid state before contact. Attempting to apply wet glue will cause the strip to slide across the eyelid.
  5. Position and secure. Use tweezers or your fingers to center the strip on your lash line. Gently press the middle down first, then secure the outer and inner corners. Use a clean applicator to push the base of the strip into the skin against the natural lashes.
The adhesive must reach a tacky state before contact, or the strip will slide.
