Most highlighter application relies on broad, sweeping motions that often result in an imprecise finish. By isolating the product to a single point at the highest apex of the cheekbone, you create a controlled reflection that mimics natural light. This method shifts the focus from an all-over shimmer to a deliberate, architectural accent.

The success of this technique relies on identifying the exact point of light refraction on your face. Follow these steps to refine your application.

1. Identify the apex. Locate the highest point of your cheekbone by turning your head slightly toward a direct light source. This is the spot where light naturally catches the skin. Avoid moving toward the center of the face or the under-eye area. Keep your focus on this singular, raised point.
2. Deposit the pigment. Load a small, dense synthetic brush with your chosen highlighter. Tap the brush once to remove excess product, ensuring the pigment is concentrated at the tip of the bristles. Apply the brush directly to the identified apex in a single vertical tap. Do not drag or sweep the brush across the skin.
3. Press and fix. Using your ring finger, gently press the edges of the applied product into the skin. Use only a vertical motion to ensure the pigment remains centered at the original point. This step softens the boundary between the product and your natural skin tone without diffusing the glow into a broad area.
