How to Create the Glass Skin Makeup Look

Glass skin is about creating a dewy, translucent base with minimal coverage that mimics naturally perfect skin.

Glass skin is not about looking wet - it's about looking like you have genetically superior skin that happens to catch light perfectly.

  1. Prep with lightweight hydration. Apply a thin layer of hydrating serum followed by a lightweight moisturizer. Your skin should feel plump but not greasy. Skip heavy creams that will make your base look thick.
  2. Use mixing medium for your foundation. Mix one drop of facial oil or illuminating primer with your foundation on the back of your hand. This creates the dewy, translucent finish that glass skin requires. Apply with a damp beauty sponge using pressing motions.
  3. Spot conceal instead of full coverage. Only conceal where you absolutely need it using a lightweight concealer. Blend edges seamlessly so the concealer disappears into your skin. The goal is skin that looks naturally flawless, not covered.
  4. Add strategic highlight. Apply cream highlighter to the high points of your face where light naturally hits. Use your fingers to press it into skin rather than sweep it on. The highlight should look like it's coming from within your skin.
  5. Set minimally. Lightly dust translucent powder only in your T-zone using a fluffy brush. Leave the highlighted areas untouched to maintain that wet-looking glow.
