How to Use Color Corrector Before Foundation

Apply color corrector to specific areas after moisturizer but before foundation, using the opposite color on the wheel to neutralize unwanted tones.

Most people use too much corrector and end up looking like they're wearing face paint—the goal is invisible correction, not obvious coverage.

  1. Start with clean, moisturized skin. Apply your regular moisturizer and let it absorb completely. Color corrector needs a smooth base to blend properly and won't work over dry or textured skin.
  2. Choose your corrector shade strategically. Green cancels redness around the nose and chin. Peach or orange neutralizes dark circles and blue tones. Lavender brightens dull, sallow areas.
  3. Apply corrector only where needed. Use a small brush or fingertip to dab corrector directly on problem areas. Don't spread it everywhere—you're spot-treating, not creating a base layer.
  4. Blend the edges gently. Pat and press the corrector into skin, focusing on seamless edges where it meets your natural skin tone. Work quickly before it sets.
  5. Apply foundation over the corrected areas. Use your normal foundation routine, pressing rather than dragging over corrected spots. The foundation will blend everything together for a natural finish.
